Four young people from the Preparatory Department recently celebrated surpassing the million words read target as part of our Accelerated Reader Scheme. Charlotte, Grace, Isobel and Ella joined Mrs O’Hare, Principal, and Mr Lawther, Head of the Preparatory Department to discuss and celebrate their enjoyment of reading.
Andrew also joined the celebration to acknowledge his success in the Lisburn and Castlereagh Arts Competition. His beautiful painting of wild poppies was discussed by the group and his evident artistic flair commended.
The young people very impressively talked to the Principal about tone, register, style and genre of books. Mrs O’Hare then set the group a challenge to investigate the reading preferences of all the staff in the Preparatory Department – including Mr Lawther! Over the next few weeks they shall each interview the staff.
