The Board of Governors of The Wallace High School seeks to appoint the following:
Principal
The Wallace High School is a coeducational voluntary grammar school, in Lisburn. It has over 1,300 pupils across both the grammar school and the preparatory department, including a 6 th form with over 300 pupils.
The school enjoys an excellent academic record, has a strong pastoral care system and a wide range of extra-curricular activities, all of which provide a balanced educational experience for its pupils.
The Board of Governors are now seeking applications for the post of Principal to provide inspirational and visionary leadership to the staff and pupils and allow them to realise their full potential.
The Job:
Supported by the Board of Governors and School Leadership team you will:
- provide vision, leadership and direction for the school and ensure that it is managed and organised to meet its aims and objectives;
- be responsible for evaluating the school’s performance to identify priorities for continuous improvement and raising standards, thereby ensuring equality of opportunity for all and
- develop policies and practices; ensuring that resources are efficiently and effectively utilised to achieve the school’s aims and objectives and be responsible for the day-to-day management, organisation, and administration of the school.
The Person:
- A teaching qualification which meets the requirements for recognition to teach in grant-aided schools in Northern Ireland.
- Registration with the GTCNI and possession of a Department of Education Teacher’s Reference Number by the agreed commencement date.
- An honours degree from a recognised institution of Higher Education or equivalent qualification.
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience, within the last 12, in a paid capacity as a teacher in a post-primary school of more than 500 students, with a sixth form of more than 100 students.
- Currently employed or has been recently employed as a Vice Principal, Deputy Head or Principal in a school or college of over 500 students with a Sixth Form of over 100 students. (If a candidate has been employed as a Vice Principal/ Deputy Head or Principal and has recently (within last 6-12 months) moved to relocate then this previous senior experience will be taken into consideration).
- Demonstrable success in leading, or contributing to, the development of a whole School Development Plan.
